FootyQs is a collection of quick, replayable football quiz games. If you enjoy testing how well you really know the beautiful game — the players, the clubs and the careers that connect them — FootyQs is built for you. Each game is designed to be picked up in a spare moment: a short round, an instant result, and the itch to try again and beat your last score.
FootyQs is built by Waives Analytics. It started as a football-fan project: a way to turn open, freely available football data into games that are genuinely fun to play. It is a small, independent effort rather than the product of a large studio, and it is made by people who love football and enjoy building things. We care about getting the details right and about keeping the experience fast, fair and free of clutter.
At a high level, each FootyQs game gives you a football puzzle and asks you to solve it. Some games ask you to find a link between players or clubs; others ask you to recall who played where. You make your guesses, the game tells you how you did, and you can jump straight into another round. There is nothing to install and no long tutorial to sit through — the aim is that you understand a game within a few seconds of starting it.
FootyQs is free to play. Visitors get a set of free “goes”, and registering an account gives you a larger allowance. If you want to keep playing without limits, you can buy a one-off Premium unlock for £1.99. Premium removes ads and gives your account unlimited play. There is no subscription and no recurring charge — it is a single payment. The free tier exists so anyone can play; Premium and advertising are simply how we cover the costs of running the site.
The player, club and career facts behind our games come from Wikidata, a large, freely licensed knowledge base maintained by a global community of volunteers. Using open data means our games can draw on a huge pool of football information. It also means the data is community-sourced and may be incompleteor occasionally out of date — a transfer might be missing, or a lesser-known player may not be covered. We treat the games as entertainment rather than an authoritative record, and we are always happy to hear about corrections.
